Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies

The Jackson School is unique: it combines the social sciences, humanities, and professional fields to forge interdisciplinary approaches to the understanding of our increasingly interconnected globe. And it does so as well by generating expertise in specific regions of the world and/or in comparative and transnational studies.

The Jackson School’s commitment to regional, cross-cultural, and comparative studies extends well beyond its many formal academic programs. The School hosts six federally funded centers devoted to outreach and public education activities for teachers, businesses, and the general community. Each year the School sponsors dozens of conferences, colloquia, and seminars featuring scholars, business, military and diplomats from around the world.

The faculty of the Jackson School is remarkably diverse. They are drawn from departments throughout the College of Arts & Sciences and from other units across the University, such as the School of Public Policy and Governance, the College of Ocean and Fishery Sciences, the School of Law and Business School. The curricula of our graduate programs also include extensive study of foreign languages.
