The program provides rigorous on-campus training in political science and policy analysis, preparing degree candidates for successful careers as equipping them with organizational skills, and self-confidence necessary to assume leadership positions in an increasingly complex public service environment. Some courses are organized in the form of a lecture-discussion; others are seminars at which students present their papers for group discussion or workshops based on field research, participation by visiting experts, and group reports.
The program may be useful specifically for applicants who are interested in Russian domestic politics, state and legal systems, economics and International Relations. At least some command of Russian is recommended but not required; for students from countries other than Russia training will include courses in Russian language; the Program provides extensive teaching of “knowledge of Russia”: interethnic relations, specifics of doing business in Russia, various aspects of Russian political culture and key political processes and conflicts.
The first year of the program takes place at Sciences Po, Paris, where students join the School of International Affairs /PSIA/ and their Master’s Program in Finance and Strategy. The second year is held at MGIMO-University.
At the end of the two-year period graduates who successfully fulfill the program requirements are awarded two Master’s Degree Diplomas:

Master of Arts in Political Sciences - World Politics (Russian-German Double Degree Master’s Program in cooperation with Free University of Berlin, Germany) The Joint Master’s Degree Program “World Politics” in the field of “International Relations” between MGIMO-University and Freie Universität Berlin (FUB), University. Humboldt (Berlin) and University of Potsdam was established in 2006 as part of a European cooperation project between higher education institutions.
The program is based on the Master’s Degree Program "International Relations" taught at the Freie Universität Berlin and Master’s Degree Program "World Politics" taught at MGIMO-University. Successful graduates receive two equal Master’s Diploma – from Freie Universität Berlin and MGIMO-University.
The duration of the programs is two academic years. The first year the whole group of both Russian and German students spend in Berlin and the second year in Moscow.
Master of Arts in Political Sciences - World Politics (Russian-Italian Double Degree Master’s Program in cooperation with University of Florence, Italy) The Joint Master’s Program “World Politics” in the field of high professional education “International Relations” was established in September 2011 as important milestone in the long-standing cooperation between MGIMO-University and the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Florence.
The Program offers three tuition free spots both form Russian and Italian side. The duration of the programs is two academic years. The first year both Russian and Italian participants study in Florence and the second year in Moscow.
Master of Arts in International Affairs – MBA Double Degree Master’s Program with University of Geneva, Switzerland The Double Degree Master’s Program MGIMO-University – University of Geneva was established in 2012, starting in September 2013. The first year of the program takes place at MGIMO-University, where the student have to fulfill a tailor-made curriculum based on the international Master’s Program “Governance and Global Affairs” taught entirely in English. The second year is held at the University of Geneva on the basis of the “International Organizations Master of Business Administration” (10 months + 3 months internship). At the end of the two-year period graduates are awarded two Master’s Degree Diplomas – M.A. in International Affairs from MGIMO and MBA from the University of Geneva.
Master of Arts in International Affairs Double Degree Master’s Program with LUISS Guido Carli University, Italy
The Double Master’s Degree Program ushers in a new level of partnership between the two Universities and offers innovative approach to education in the international relations field. In the first year students study at MGIMO University, fulfilling curriculum based on the international Master’s Program “Governance and Global Affairs” taught entirely in English. In the second year they study at the International Relations program offered by LUISS.
