Overview

The Hubert H. Humphrey School ranks among the top 10 professional schools of public affairs at public universities in the country. We offer a Master of Development Practice in International Development and a Global Policy concentration (with many sub-specialties)in our Master of Public Policy program.

The School is widely recognized for its role in examining public issues and shaping public policy at the local, state, national, and international levels, and for providing leadership and management expertise to public and nonprofit organizations.

Degree Requirements

Master of Public Policy (MMP) - 2 years

  • 45 total semester credits
  • Including 21 credits in required core courses
  • Three-course concentration (9 credits minimum)
  • 3-credit capstone seminar or workshop course.
  • Remaining credits are taken in elective courses.
  • A noncredit internship is also required.

Master of Development Practice in international development (MDP) - 2 years

  • 50 Credits in interdisciplinary coursework, including: livelihood strategies, sustainability, agriculture, education, public health, societal and environmental mechanisms, and management and policy analysis. A summer International Field Experience and Capstone workshop in international development are also required.
